Clocks

We are learning how to tell the time accurately. Today, working in pairs, we made clocks with different materials to show our learning.
  • the big hand is the minute hand and shows how many minutes
  • the little hand is the hour hand and shows the hour
  • the clock shows groups of five as you move around the clock
  • in between each number on the clock are 4 lines or dots that mean 4 minutes - the 5th minute is the number
  • o'clock means the big hand is on the twelve and the little hand is on a number for the hour
  • half past means the big hand is on the 6 and the little hand is on a number for the hour
It's really tricky learning how to tell the time

Creating Our Product for Market Day

We have been very busy working with our buddy class (Room 11 and Mrs Lowe) to create our product for market day.

First, we had to decide what are healthy and unhealthy sandwich fillings. To help us with this we had Mr and Mrs Whyte from Subway visit and share about their product. We learnt lots about making sub fillings, how to make a product safely and advertising. We also got to sample some delicious subs and cook a sub bun.YUM YUM!

Next, in groups we decided some sandwich fillings we would like to try. A list was made and Mrs Ramsay went shopping.

Then, we created small samples of our product to taste and assess. Check out these pictures of us working with our buddies to create, taste and assess our product.

Time Machine

We are learning how to tell the time accurately. We have a time machine in our classroom.

Children work really hard to get their name on the PRIDE wall with two ticks then they get to have 5 minutes in the time machine playing on the IPAD or read a book - they choose. Children use a sand timer to track their 5 minutes in the time machine.

I wonder who will be first to grab a torch and have their five minutes in the time machine this week.....

... and this week it was Whetu! Well done Whetu for earning your time in the time machine.
