Capacity Relay

Room 14 children are getting so clever they wrote their own statements for this blogpost!

Today, we joined with Kowhai hub to do races for maths!

Splish! Splash! went the water in the bucket. We went outside for maths with Kowhai Hub. We were learning about capacity. We raced to see who would fill the container with water first.

Check out the fun we had today ..............
We were in 8 groups. We had a little buddy each.
Splash Splosh! Me and my buddy were running with the wavy water in the bucket.
We tipped water into the crate and it was a race with all of Kowhai Hub.
We sprinted with a bucket full of water. It was heaps of fun.
We were racing with our small buddies.
We raced across the field like racing cars carrying a bucket of water.
Watch out, don't spill the water or we won't win the relay race.
We had to do 3 races. It was really cool.
We had a sponge and we put it into the water. I said, "Good work," to my buddy.
We ran with the sponge to the humongous bucket.

The Best Way to Eat an Oreo Cookie

Today, we wrote about the best way to eat an Oreo cookie. We had to persuade the reader to try eating the Oreo the way we think is the best way to enjoy the delicious cookie.

Check out how persuasive these authors are.....

Author Keagan wrote:
I think the best way to eat a Oreo is to twist the lid and lick the milky fresh cream off. Then, dip the chocolate outside bits in freezing milk and eat it whole. If you try it you will want more and more. You will like the chocolate milky flavour. It will go soggy if you don’t eat it this way.

Author Hannah wrote:
I think the best way to eat an Oreo biscuit it to pull off the top, eat it then scrape the cream off with your teeth but only a little bit then dunk it in fresh cold milk but don’t do it too long otherwise it will go soggy. If it goes in get a fork and get it out quickly otherwise it will turn into chocolate milk!

Author Caitlin wrote: I think the best way to eat an Oreo cookie is to pull, snap and lick with nice fresh cold milk. When you eat it this way you will have two halves altogether. You will love more Oreo’s after this. Try it!

Sneaky E

We have been learning about Sneaky e.

Sometimes Sneaky e is called Magic e or Friendly e.

We know that when a Sneaky e jumps onto the end of a short word it changes the sound and the meaning of the word like

mat                             mat + e     =                  mate

We used Pic Collage on the iPAD to share our learning

OREO writing

We use OREO when we are writing persuasively. Just like the OREO cookie we make 4 parts to our persuasive writing.

O= Opinion (I think.... I believe..... I feel....)
R= Reason (Why you think this way)
E= Example (What difference will it make)
O= Opinion (use feeling words)
